“DIY microclimate station” Workshop

In order to equip students with practical STEM skills and environmental awareness, a DIY Microclimate Station Workshop was held on 3rd May 2025, offering a unique hands-on experience. Students built their own automated weather station using sensors and programming, explored urban climate challenges and sustainable solutions, and gained real-world experience in data collection, calibration, and analysis. They also developed technical skills in electronics, coding, and geospatial visualization.

More than just constructing a Microclimate Station, this workshop served as a multidisciplinary gateway to climate science, engineering, and data literacy. By the end, students had gained technical proficiency, environmental insight, and problem-solving confidence—preparing them for future academic pursuits and careers in green technology.

Students learned the theory behind microclimate stations and eagerly sought to apply it in practice by building a sensor for the station.
One student utilized the station to collect temperature and humidity data.
Throughout the workshop, students acquired valuable knowledge and had a rewarding learning experience.
Once completed, they conducted multiple tests and made modifications to enhance its functionality.
With professional guidance and perseverance, they successfully constructed the microclimate station through teamwork.
