Gamma-Go Workshop

Our STEM school team members have joined the Gamma-Go Workshop organized by the Hong Kong Observatory. In the workshop, students were introduced basic concept related to radiation in our daily lives. They built a radiation detection device using Arduino Boards and various sensor components. They also had a chance to try out their device by finding natural radioactive sources hidden in the school campus. It has been a great opportunity for our students to learn beyond the regular classroom. In the coming future, they will also use a similar device to help collect radiation data in Hong Kong and contribute to the radiation monitoring work of the Hong Kong Observatory.

Students are making their radiation detection device attentively.
Students first learn about knowledge related to radiation and the components of the device.
It needs teamwork to build the device correctly.
Students are locating radioactive source using their device.
Students have enjoyed and learnt a lot from the workshop.
